Congratulations to Jill Hutchison — this week’s Actor of the Week!

Jill is a founding member of SFF and was one of the Gypsy Wanderers. Her first role was the feisty Princess Elaina in the Destiny Trilogy/mini-series. For the next four years she played everything from a dancing extra in The King of Elflin’s Daughter and the stand-in for Captain Vesper in Mind Games, to Clara Atwood, one of the mourning friends in The Vigil, and Fifi LaMiche, the flirty french maid in Frumpy Gets It. But her main lead role was starring as Catherine Summers, the clever kleptomaniac in The Perfect Combination. I actually wrote and filmed The Perfect Combination for Jill because I wanted to see her in a lead role — and she was absolutely perfect in the part! I honestly cannot imagine anyone else playing Catherine/Rini. Jill always brought a smile to set with her bubbly personality and sense of fun. Sadly, Mind Games and additional shoots from the Destiny Mini-series were the last opportunities I had to work with Jill. I believe she is now a successful attorney in Chicago, and is engaged to be married in 2010 (that’s the rumor anyway). Congratulations, Jill, and thanks for everything!

Congratulations to Paul Nelson — this week’s Actor of the Week!

Paul joined the company in the spring of 1998 when he played the part of Carl Winters in the Perfect Combination. Since the movie was a screwball comedy, there were adults playing the two children’s parts, and Paul graciously agreed to don a propeller cap and play a ten-year-old thief. He did a great job and hopefully had fun. I never got the chance to work with him again, but if he ever wanted to play another part I’d love to work with him again. Thanks and congratulations Paul!

Congratulations to Gillian King — this week’s Actor of the Week!

Gillian joined the company in the spring of 2001 during production of The Curse in which she played the lovable con-artist turned actual mystic Madame Maggie. She was perfect in the part, giving Maggie the laid back air of a college student just trying to make it through finals who also happened to have a spirit guide and be slightly psychic. I very much enjoyed working with Gillian who was talented and fun, and as always I would love the chance to work with her again. Where ever you are now, Gillian, I hope you are doing well and having fun!

Congratulations to Tanino Minneci — this week’s Actor of the Week!

Tanino is one of the founding members of the company and was on set for the first day of filming on June 8, 1996. He was so awesome as the heroic scholar Esteban in Destiny, that I was compelled to write a second and third movie mostly to explore his character. Tanino also appeared as the melodramatic son in Frumpy Gets It, and in 1999 he returned as a guest star in Episode 16 of Pandora’s Box, playing the “smarmy weirdo” Gregor. Ohter on set achievements include creating numerous running jokes, including the most widespread and long running joke in SFF history — “stir?”. Considering how influential and amazing Tanino has been to Sine Fine Films it’s shocking that he hasn’t been actor of the week yet — so here he is now: Actor of the Week. About damn time. Honestly, what can I say about Tanino that doesn’t involve the words awesome, amazing, or hilarious? One of these days I hope to work with him again in another SFF production, because to be Taninoless forever is just too sad a fate to contemplate.

Congratulations to Ryan Homberg — this week’s Actor of the Week!

Ryan joined the company in the fall of 2001 during filming of The Gift Bearer — first as the villainous Shaw, then as the all-purpose extra who almost always died (he even got his own running joke: “you killed Ryan — you bastard!”). Later he was cast as James Ford in Eidolon and was awesome in the part! He also played multiple extras in Eidolon as well, and returned as the Rebel/Guard/Dancer/Dead Guy extra in The Cursed Destiny of Pandora’s Gift Box. He also played the title role in the short film “The Adventures of Lucifer Jones” that was made for SPC-TV’s Tape and a Stick (I actually want to refilm “The Adventures of Lucifer Jones” with an updated script, but only if I can get Ryan back to play the lead, cause he was terrific in the part!). Ryan has been a devoted, dedicated actor who was always willing to play any part and was always there when we needed him. Thanks for everything Ryan! You’re truly a special and amazing guy!

Congratulations to Latasha Parks — this week’s Actor of the Week!

Latasha joined the company in the fall of 2001 when she played one of the sinister Drakes — Hela — in disguise as Minerva Fortuna Insania, sister of the crazy roman governor. She took part in the infamous Nashville Trip and did a fantastic job. I only wish the scheduling had allowed her more screen time. She was truly an amazing actress and I hope she has gone far in theater and film! Thanks for being such a trooper with short sleep, long road trips, and freezing cold lakes!
